Congratulations Gene Stastney

Congratulations to Gene!! He represented the SP Kiwanis at the ASPIRE leadership dinner.

Gene Stastny has served for 26 years as one of the Severna Park Kiwanis great leaders. A retired engineer, Gene settled in the Severna Park area while trying to find a welcoming community for his daughters to grow up in. He still lives to this day in the Ben Oaks community where he was one of the great minds and architects of the river side spring pool.  He is also proud to be a World War II Army Veteran.

For the Kiwanis club, Gene juggled many positions, among them being President and Vice President of the club. He is one of our main volunteers at our annual apple sale and he has planned past events like our flea market. Up until a few years ago, you could see Gene riding his motorcycle around Severna Park or sailing his boat around it. He’s very active in Woods Church activities, AA Co. Teen Court, Friends of Arundel Seniors, and Meals on Wheels.

Gene also serves on the board of many different timeshares, which is not surprising as one of his favorite hobbies is to vacation with his daughters and grandchildren. Gene Stastny has been an amazing leader and friend to the people in Severna Park and we are all better for it.

What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a global service organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

The overall Kiwanis organization was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Michigan. There are currently 240,000 members in 7,700 clubs in 80 countries. The word Kiwanis means ‘We Build’.

The Severna Park Kiwanis is a group of citizens who are committed to improve their community on a local and global level. Since 1955, we have been raising funds to give back to the community.

The Severna Park Kiwanis club also supports and sponsors a variety of Kiwanis-based clubs around the area such as the:

• Severna Park, Old Mill, Chesapeake, and North County High School Key Clubs
• Anne Arundel Community College Circle K International (CKI) Club
• Glen Burnie Aktion Club

The goal of our club support is improve quality of life through activities promoting health and education as well as to encourage leadership and service among the youth in our area. The Severna Park Kiwanis group has approximately 1,000+ Maryland youth and young adults involved in our Kiwanis-based clubs.

If you are interested in seeing what the Severna Park Kiwanis are all about, please join us at a meeting or Kiwanis sponsored event. Our contact info is below:
